There have been possible tornadoes / damaging winds detected — these are connected with the large low pressure system coming off the Pacific ocean.

Below, you will see the “polar view” of the Global IR satellite via College of Dupage.. notice the jet stream splits in the far west pacific — producing a northerly and southerly jet stream flow — causing this unusually warm weather to blow up from the southwest pacific, across mexico and southern california — and into the central USA .

12/18/2011 — Blizzard watch in effect for southwest to midwest USA

In the next few days we will see the blizzard blow in from the southwest — over Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas — then north east from that point… areas in the next two days to watch will be east of Kansas (possibly missouri, iowa, nebraska)

Blizzard watches have been issued for several states in the southwest USA for the next 1 1/2 days.
