5/25/2015 — Asthenosphere earthquake DEEP below Japan + China — Watch out at Nepal / China / India border

May 25, 2015

A major seismic development has occurred in Asia.  Over the past few hours two noteworthy earthquakes have struck in (or near) Japan.

japan deep asthenosphere earthquake may 25 2015

First, a shallow 5.6 magnitude (5.3M revised) struck the Northern portion of Tokyo Japan.   This earthquake made international news over the past few hours.

Main stream media report on the 5.6M event in Tokyo here:

Then, moving forward just a few hours, we see a new earthquake has struck deep in the Asthenosphere below the Japan / China / Russia border region just West of mainland Japan.

This new earthquake struck at a depth of 239 miles / 386km, which falls directly in the deeper layers of the Earth below the Pacific plate.

This below diagram shows the approximate layers of the central core of the Earth, showing the Asthenosphere to be the area of semi-melted magma located below the crust (lithosphere).

It has been seen in the past that these deep earthquakes are followed by shallow LARGER earthquakes in adjacent areas to the deep movement.  Earthquakes in the Asthenosphere cause a pressure from below, which then leads to shallow earthquakes elsewhere which are larger in magnitude.

Here is a video I made explaining the new findings about the deeper layers of the Earth, and how movement below causes movement above.

Recent examples of asthenosphere movement causing shallow larger movement are the cluster of deep earthquakes in Fiji causing the cluster of shallow larger earthquakes near Papua New Guinea.  Also we saw a deep earthquake in this location (near Japan) 2 days prior to the Kathmandu Nepal earthquake.

The deep asthenosphere earthquake which struck near Japan before the Nepal earthquake was a 5.0M event….. the current deep earthquake is a 5.2M.   We may need to place the area to the West / Northwest of this new deep earthquake on alert for a shallow larger event in the near term.

This means a new alert should be issued now for the areas adjacent to the deep movement.  Please keep watch in Nepal going into China/Russia border regions for a possible larger earthquake.  I wouldn’t rule out North India either.

Next 3-5 days should tell the tale if this deep Japan earthquake causes movement to the West of it (India / Nepal / China / Russia region).

Still watching areas named out on the May 21st earthquake forecast, still 2 days left to go in the original forecast for these areas.

Watch the earthquake forecast here:

Another additional point to remember, there is a possible eruption getting ready to take place near Tokyo Japan.

After remaining dormant for over 800 years (since the 12th century Middle Ages) we see Mount Hakone showing major signs of a coming eruption.

Japanese officials have cut access to the area around the Volcano (located just 45 miles from downtown Tokyo), and now the area is reported to have swelled / uplifted over 4 inches in 2-3 weeks time.  Gushing steam seen on multiple hillsides, and access to the nearby hot springs resorts is limited.
